Your performance at Calvin was inspiring in the best sense of the word. I was encouraged by the risks you took in performing these songs (and I had come to the conference hoping, like the Cowardly Lion, for some courage). My spirit was nourished by your lush music and your passionate performance. I am grateful for having seen you play.

andy, thanks for the kind note. you're either thinking of "Chapter 11," which employed an ambient texture of a train passing back and forth slowly, and tuned in such a way that it hummed in resonance with the music. (in a stereo PA that would have been really sweet. as it was, in the round, everything was mono. the idea was a train coming and going across your field of vision (hearing). trains also came in and out of other songs... "...or will you stay...")

or, you're thinking of "Chapter 6," in which the bass player (matt) pressed a bunch of fun pedals, in conjunction with harmonics, to wail out high notes. maybe that's the one. he came up with that in the hotel rehearsal the day of. ha. do what you need to do.

of course, neither of these elements are in the album versions... speaking of which, did you ever get a copy of the album from rob? i can post one to you if you'd like.
